Shopping and Budgeting
In May, a group of children from year 5 met up with children from other local schools (Barrington's, Crook Log and Hook lane) at Tesco in Welling High Street.
They bought their own ingredients and had to work on a budget, thinking about the differences and similarities between different products.
The original recipe which Chef Amy had provided was Spaghetti Bolognese, but they then learned that by adding a few extra ingredients to the Bolognese sauce, they could reduce food waste and create a whole new dish.
We returned to school and worked in groups with the children from other schools to complete writing, maths and practical cookery tasks with Chef Amy, before taking home ingredients to cook for our family/carers.
