Homework

All children at Foster’s Primary School receive homework. Homework is intended to consolidate, reinforce and extend skills and understanding taught in school. We also strive to secure and promote an effective partnership between parents, teachers and children through the provision of homework.

Homework for younger children consists largely of regular reading with parents and carers and, later, learning to read and spell common sight words and words with regular phonic patterns.

As children get older homework requirements broaden to include research, preparation for lessons, traditional written assignments etc. By Year 6 we would expect pupils to spend approximately 30 minutes a day on homework.
